Garrett is an adventure photographer and cinematographer who has documented first ascents on rock, water ice, and in alpine regions across China. While his focus has been covering new climbing route development in China over the past several years, he also regularly shoots surfing on the California coast when home in the Bay Area. While living and working in China as a full-time project engineer, Garrett began documenting climbing expeditions and transitioned to adventure photography full-time in 2016. His familiarity with China's culture and command of Mandarin allow him to comfortably manage assignments and expeditions in China’s complex cultural landscape. He has climbed and photographed extensively in China's two notable traditional climbing areas - Liming and Keketuohai, joined multiple exploratory alpine expeditions in China's Minya Konka and Kawagebo ranges, and joined alpine rock wall ascents in Jarjinjabo and Zhagana. Garrett is currently based between the San Francisco Bay Area and Yangshuo, China.
